b. 1984, USA
Amanda Baldwin (b. 1984, Seattle) is an American painter who lives and works in New York. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), received a BFA in painting and printmaking from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2009 and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. She reworks the genres of still life and landscape: on her canvases vases, fruit and mountains turn into abstracted forms with shifted colours and perspectives. She has had solo exhibitions in New York, Miami, Paris and London, and her work is held by the Palm Springs Art Museum and by the Long Museum and Start Museum in Shanghai. Her painting “Triangle Tetrad” was shown in the exhibition “Nature Morte” at The Hole, New York, in 2021.
