Bianca Nemelc

b. 1991, USA

Bianca Nemelc (b. 1991) is a figurative painter, born and raised in New York City and based in the Bronx. Self-taught, she works in acrylic, building her paintings slowly, layer by layer. Her work centres on the bond between the female figure and nature: she paints her figures in many shades of brown as a tribute to her heritage, while her landscapes are loosely inspired by the tropical and Caribbean places her family comes from. In 2022 she had the solo exhibition 'Austral Summer' at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York. 'Snowmelt and Blood' (2022), offered by the gallery, is composed of soft, undulating forms in white, red, brown and green.
