Rimas Bičiūnas
b. 1945
Rimas Bičiūnas (b. 1945) is a Lithuanian painter born in Panemunis, Rokiškis district, the son of folk artist Monika Bičiūnienė, whose naive visual language also shaped his work. In 1972 he graduated from the Lithuanian Art Institute, where he studied under Antanas Gudaitis. From 1971 to 2009 he led the art studio Paletė; he has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Association since 1975 and received its gold badge in 2014. He paints celebrations, work and leisure, allegorical compositions, landscapes, still lifes and portraits in an expressive manner, with distorted figures and bright colours. His works are held by the Lithuanian National Museum of Art and the MO Museum. The gallery offers his pencil drawings from 1996 and 1999.
