Genevieve Cohn
b. 1992, USA
Genevieve Cohn (b. 1992) grew up in rural Vermont (USA) and received an MFA in painting from Indiana University. Her paintings depict communities of women built from historical and imagined motifs, joining past, present and future. She draws on the Women's Land Army of the First and Second World Wars, women's separatist communities, fairy tales and fiction. In her world, the source of women's power is collaboration, self-sufficiency and a connection with nature. She has been an artist in residence at the Fiore Art Center, the Vermont Studio Center, the Ragdale Foundation and AiRGentum, and she is a winner of the Hopper Prize.
