b. 1965 / 1968, Italy

Miaz Brothers is an Italian artist duo formed by the brothers Roberto (b. 1965) and Renato (b. 1968) Miaz, who come from Monza near Milan. From 1980 to 1984 they attended the art high school in Cantù and later studied at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan. They started with installations for bars and clubs, worked with international brands, and have lived and worked in Paris, Amsterdam, Valencia and London. In their Antimatter series, portraits are painted with spray paint and appear completely blurred, as if out of focus. They won the biennial prize of the Amposta Museum in 2010 and the Arte Laguna Prize in Venice in 2011. Their works are held by the MUCA museum in Munich and in the collection of the artist Damien Hirst.
