Moshe Rosenthalis (1922–2008) was born in Marijampolė. He attended a Hebrew school in 1928–1940 and the Kaunas art school in 1940–1941, and in 1942–1945 fought in the 16th Lithuanian Division of the Soviet army. In 1950 he graduated in painting from the Vilnius State Art Institute. He was a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Association in 1950–1957 and exhibited from 1951. In 1957 he emigrated to Israel, after which he was all but erased from the information space in Lithuania. His painting combines a post-Cubist aesthetic with a Fauvist sense of colour.
