Paulius Šliaupa

b. 1990

Paulius Šliaupa is a contemporary Lithuanian artist whose work is marked by irony, humour and reflection on visual culture. Text and image often intertwine in his works, forming multi-layered compositions. He uses bright colours, a graphic style and elements of pop culture. Alongside the colourful works he also pursues monochrome painting, where the expression is more restrained and the focus is on form, texture and subtle tonal differences. His works convey a critical view of consumerism and visual stereotypes, balancing between playfulness and the conceptual. The gallery offers the mixed-media works 'Untitled' (2013) and 'Optical Board' (2015).
